Portraits of Tao
Portraits of Tao is my fifth book and my first one dealing with Chinese art. I have often seen Zhang Lu’s art whenever I read about Taoism (or Daoism if you like) and I have always enjoyed his simple but beautiful paintings relating to Tao. Many of his original paintings have sustained damage from the ravages of time and I thought that they were the perfect candidate to be revived using modern graphic software and the special techniques that I learned while making my other books.
I set about recreating Zhang Lu’s famous paintings and coloring them too as many of them were simply black and white and many that did contain color were so badly faded that you could barely see the color. The images that you will find in Portraits of Tao are the highest quality images possible giving you sharper lines and more vibrant colors.
Portraits of Tao has 20 newly recreated digital paintings based on Zhang Lu’s original artwork. You will find his paintings of the Eight Immortals as well as 10 other paintings of famous Taoists and 2 nature paintings. There is also a short description for each of the Eight Immortals.
