Portraits of Edo
Portraits of Edo is my third ukiyo-e book that focuses on prints based on prints by the famous Japanese ukiyo-e artist Utamaro. If you don’t recognize Utamaro’s name, I’m sure you’ll recognize some of his prints. His ‘Ase no Fuku Onna’ is famous and it would be hard to see or read anything about Japanese art without seeing it. Utamaro is best remembered for his portraits of beautiful Japanese women of the day, although he did make other prints too. This book is a great way to get a glimpse of the fashions and styles that were popular in Japan during the Edo Period. There are 50 beautiful recreated prints found in my book along with a short biography of Utamaro. Keep in mind that the examples seen here are sample images and the images found in my books are of an even higher quality.
