Daruma
If you travel to Japan you’ll see Daruma everywhere. If you aren’t familiar with the Daruma it is a talisman or figure based on the founder of Zen Buddhism Bodhidharma. The dolls come in many colors and there are many different styles but red is most commonly seen color. The Daruma is a symbol of perseverance as the Daruma won’t break if it falls over because of its shape. When you buy one they come with blank eyes. You are supposed to choose a goal and then draw or paint in the left eye and when you accomplish the goal you’ll draw or paint in the right eye.
